The Attack of the Radiative Space C.O.I.N.S.

I don’t really like sci-fi, but I do enjoy old monster movies that I used to watch with my grandpa. So, I decided that my sci-fi world would take place in a time just beyond the 1950s, where aliens, known as the C.O.I.N.S., invade Earth. Over time, the U.S. reverse-engineers the alien technology to catch up to their level, and now the war rages in the hellish ruins of Albuquerque, New Mexico, so I guess the more things change the more they stay the same.

You might be wondering why the aliens are coins. Well, I actually came up with that idea while at work—one of the servers I was working with was tipped with coins, and the face of sheer disgust and horror they made gave me the idea. Also, doing everything in black and white makes it look so much better, which is why I set it in the 1950s.

Project 2 Vector

The theme I chose was the Arizona desert. Having lived in Arizona my entire life, I wanted to recreate it purely from memory and my personal impressions of what best represents the state. I focused on using earthy colors and natural elements such as cacti and mountains. However, I also included a cityscape since Phoenix is a large, sprawling metropolis that blends into the surrounding desert. When I look at satellite images of Arizona, the gray expanse of Phoenix always stands out against the natural landscape.

Project 3 Audio

You had to walk up early to go to class, get dressed and ready and head out to drive to school, traffic is slow as always and the radio is broken. You day dream about nothing important until you come to a stop as everyone else and then you see a godzilla like creature and it just looks like him but due to international copyright law it isn’t and you try screaming and running away but the world decided to just nuke the whole city so you can’t.

Project 4 Video

I chose to do my movie trailer parody on the Minecraft movie because I’ve really liked Minecraft ever since the game was still owned by Notch. I never saw the movie because I was busy with work and school. I thought it would be fun to make the trailer without knowing anything about it besides what I’ve heard, pretty much what people who make trailers do anyway.

Project 5

I’ve been playing a lot of the Batman Arkham games lately, and I recently finished both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. That inspired me to create my stop-motion project based on those games. I had Batman fight the Joker, just like they always do, and I used drawings since that was the best option I had for bringing the idea to life. I decided not to include audio because I wasn’t sure how to add it in the Studio app, and I wanted to give it more of a comic-book style, so I used speech bubbles instead.
